Murder
Albert Howard Carey 82-0959
During the night hours of March 20, 1982, one or more persons entered the home of Albert Carey on Oak Street, Albany, Oregon. Carey was known as a reclusive person with few friends. Investigators suspect that robbery may have been a motive in Mr. Carey’s death. The investigation is ongoing and investigators continue to pursue leads. Missing Person
Niki Diane Britten 03-25583
Niki Diane Britten was last seen in Albany, Oregon in July 17, 1969 at age 16. It is believed she was reported as a runaway juvenile in 1969; however, records from that time no longer exist. Detectives interviewed former police officers and determined a report was most likely taken, however in that time period once a person reached the age of 18 the records were purged. The laws regarding missing person’s reports have changed and these reports are no longer purged. Missing Person reports now require DNA and medical records be obtained. In 2003, the case was re-opened as more information was reported. The case is assigned to a detective and the investigation is ongoing.
Niki Britten has been entered into the NamUS website for missing persons. The police department has obtained DNA samples from relatives so the University of North Texas could develop a mitochondrial DNA profile. This profile has been entered into a DNA database in the event she is found.

Missing Person
Theada Fixsen 86-5057
Theada Fixsen was last seen in the week of October 22-24, 1986. On October 27, 1986, Theada Fixsen was reported to the Police Department as a missing person. She has not contacted her family since that time. All efforts of law enforcement and extensive searches by the family failed to find her. Her front left tooth was broken and is noticeable.
Theada Fixsen has been entered into the NamUS website for missing persons. The police department has obtained DNA samples from relatives so the University of North Texas to develop a mitochondrial DNA profile. This profile has been entered into a DNA database in the event she is found.

Murder
Joseph Neimi Zaloom 72-32869
On the morning of June 16, 1972, Joseph Neimi Zaloom was found in the 300 block of SW 5th Avenue, Albany, Oregon. It was believed he had been assaulted some time after leaving a social club located where City Hall now stands. Investigators believe that robbery may have been the motive in Mr. Zaloom’s death. Joseph Zaloom was transported to Albany General Hospital where he died on June 17, 1972. The investigation is ongoing and investigators are reviewing the investigation for leads.
