Shelters
Shelters late spring–early fall
Why are rentals seasonal in the parks?
- Routine maintenance: We begin routine maintenance on our parks and rental spaces. This may include removing picnic tables (for repainting or cleaning), pressure washing, and other projects.
- Preventing damage: Winterize restrooms to prevent pipes from freezing. Larger off-season rentals tend to cause more damage to wet/squishy turf.
- Staffing: Temp staff hired in the summer to perform rental custodial work are not available. Our full-time staff is working on regular maintenance and other off-season projects.
See Albany Parks & Recreation Operational Policy - Park Rental Permit Requirements
- You must complete a rental reservation at least 3 business days prior to the requested rental date to reserve a shelter in a City park.
- All rentals require a refundable $100 damage deposit. The Monteith Riverpark stage requires a $500 damage deposit.
- Reservations for park shelters are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Park shelters may be reserved up to 12 months in advance.
- Rental fees and amenities vary by park site. Some park sites include electricity, sinks, and stoves.
- Reservations give renters exclusive use of the shelters only. The remainder of the park is open to the public. City park open space is not available for rent.
For special requests, Parks & Recreation will work with you to identify services available. Call 541-917-7777 for additional information.

Beer and wine may be consumed in some parks with an approved permit. Use of hard liquor is not allowed in any park, at any time.

Sound / Road Closure
If your park rental also includes amplified sound, road closures, or a parade this permit may be necessary. A temporary Right-of-Way Use Permit may also be required for signs placed in the public right-of-way.
The use of amplified sound is permitted only until 11:00 p.m. All amplified sound must cease promptly at that time to comply with noise regulations.
