UPDATE November 3, 2020, 9 a.m.: The drinking water warning for the Countryman Circle, Winn Drive, and Regency Heights area has been lifted as of Wednesday, November 3, 2020. Lab test results verified the city’s water is safe to use and consume. All 69 homes affected are being notified by door tag this morning.
UPDATE November 2, 2020, 10 a.m.: Crews had trouble getting the water main repair to seal and water service was not restored to the affected homes until 11:30 p.m.. Coliform bacteria testing results will be delayed until 9 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3. If you are one of the 69 homes affected, you are advised to continue to boil your water until then. We thank these residents for their patience.
On Sunday, November 1, 2020, at approximately 3:45pm, the Public Works Department received multiple calls about water pressure loss in the area of Countryman Circle, Regency Heights, and Winn Drive in North Albany. Upon investigation, crews found a break on a six-inch asbestos cement water main. The water main had to be shut off to conduct repairs. This reduction in pressure affected 69 homes served by these mains (see attached map). Crews are working to repair the main as soon as possible and, upon completion, will collect coliform bacteria samples to verify water quality.
Due to a loss of pressure to the 69 homes served by these mains, a boil water notice was directly issued to these homes. The boil water notice was issued as a precaution and these homes should continue to boil their water until the sample results come back negative for coliform bacteria. Residents will be notified of the sample result as soon as it becomes available. We expect to receive test results late Monday evening.
